SMT connector, that is, patch connector. Over the years, connectors have become the few remaining through-hole components on most PC boards.
Mainly focus on the following points:
1. Mechanical properties
The connector needs to fix the terminal, so the material must have a certain strength and rigidity; in the later stage, tests such as rocking test and impact test will be carried out to detect the quality of the product, so it must have a certain toughness.
2. Thermal performance
The material must be resistant to high temperatures. The SMT connector requires a lead-free soldering process in the later stage. The temperature is about 260 degrees, and the time is about 15s. Therefore, the material must have high temperature resistance, that is, the short-term heat resistance index HDT must meet the conditions.
3. Electrical performance
All plastic parts of connectors must be insulated; high-frequency products may require certain requirements for dielectric constant and dissipation factor; some shell and bracket products also require antistatic requirements.
4. Flame retardant and environmental protection
Most products are flame retardant basically in line with UL94V0.
5. Physical and chemical properties
Due to exposure to solder paste, salt spray testing, and some customer requirements, the material needs to have some chemical resistance; in addition, UV resistance, low water absorption, and dimensional stability are required.
6. Appearance and dyeing
The current connector needs to have various color requirements, whether on the main board or other parts, so the material must have good dyeing properties, and also have good color stability under high temperature conditions, and it is not easy to fade.
7. Processability
Processability is very important, requiring a wide processing window, low mold fouling, and low corrosion to reduce downtime losses. Some products require high flatness and low warpage.
